Model parameter optimisation for 3D CFD simulations of large engines
Model parameter optimisation for 3D CFD simulations of large engines
The LEC has developed its own tool, LEC LEAP, for the automatic creation of simulations for OpenFOAM.
Target:
As part of the bachelor’s thesis, model parameters of combustion models are to be investigated using open-source software for 3D CFD simulation of large engines. The aim of this thesis is to perform a sensitivity analysis of modelling approaches and model parameters on combustion. The results are to be compared and evaluated with existing measurement data.
Tasks:
- Familiarisation with the topic (3D CFD simulation with OpenFOAM, combustion model parameters)
- Setting up the simulation in the self-developed CFD tool LEC LEAP
- Carrying out the simulations
- Evaluating the results and conclusions
- Writing the bachelor’s thesis
Prerequisite: Interest in CFD, Linux and OpenFOAM
Starting date: To be agreed
Duration: Approximately 3 months
