A joint approach to innovation is being pursued with the LEC at Graz University of Technology for research on single cylinder test beds for diesel and gas engines at a cost to GE of 5.5 million euros. New engine components and control strategies can be tested in the test beds. The results obtained from these tests will contribute to the development of a multicylinder engine.

The research center in Garching (Germany) was founded in 2004 and is one of five GE global research centers. For Europe to be able to keep up with global competition, GE recommends that there should be an increase in research collaboration between the private and public sectors.
