Green Energy Instead of a Coal Power Plant in Mellach
Until recently Autria's last coal-fired power station war operated in Mellach, Styria. Now it will be turned into a giant laboratory for "green" energy from hydrogen, which is expected to be a pioneering technology for large engines in the future. The aim is to combat climate change through research and innovation in Styria. The newspaper Kronen Zeitung reported about this.
The Graz University of Technology is also on board, as is the Styrian engine group AVL. CEO Helmut List sees synthetically produced fuels as the future, “because they enable CO2-free mobility, long ranges and short refuelling times“.
