Conditions of Participation

  1. Any natural person who has reached the age of eighteen is eligible to participate in the LEC Data Challenge. Individuals, as well as teams of up to four individuals, are permitted.
  2. Participation is possible only during the period of participation from May 1 to August 19, 2019.
  3. There is no participation fee.
  4. The organizers will notify the top five teams and will invite them to present their approaches at the 17th symposium “The Working Process of the Internal Combustion Engine”
  5. The top five individual participants/teams will receive free admission to the symposium.
  6. The three winners will be determined by a combination of the quantitative result (number of correctly classified points) and a professional jury following the presentation of the 5 best contributions. The award ceremony will take place at the symposium.
  7. By participating in the Data Challenge, the participants agree that the provided personal data can be transmitted to the expert jury and all official sponsors for the purpose of discussing solution approaches and used infrastructure and tools with regard to the Data Challenge.
  8. By participating in the Data Challenge, the participants furthermore agree to possibly have their photograph taken at the award ceremony for the following purposes: Reporting about the event in the media and through various media channels used by the LEC and all official sponsors (the company’s website, social media, local media, leaflets, business reports, annual reports, etc.); Presenting the LEC and its activities in the aforementioned media and press.
  9. The LEC will in no case transfer or pass on personal data of participants to further third parties for further use other than the parties mentioned in point 8 above. Participants are able to withdraw their consent for the internal use of their personal data at any time by sending an email to
  10. The prize money will be transferred to the bank account specified by the winning teams. Cash conversion of rewards is not possible.
  11. Any recourse to courts of law is excluded.
  12. Employees of the LEC and all sponsors are prohibited from participating.
  13. The LEC hereby explicitly reserves the right to cancel the Data Challenge without prior notice and without stating reasons.
