Simulation-based investigation of the multi-body system piston-piston rings-cylinder liner with regard to oil transport
Simulation-based investigation of the multi-body system piston-piston rings-cylinder liner with regard to oil transport
Target:
The aim of this work is to use multi-body simulations to gain a better understanding of the movement of the piston rings and the resulting oil transport into the combustion chamber. Subsequently, measures to reduce oil consumption and the associated pre-ignition will be developed.
Tasks:
- Literature research on the topic of piston ring-cylinder liner multi-body simulation
- Setting up, performing, and validating piston ring-cylinder liner multi-body simulations using a commercially available program
- Evaluation of the simulations and preparation of the results
- Derivation of possible measures to reduce oil transport into the combustion chamber based on the findings obtained from the simulations
Starting date: To be agreed
Duration: Approximately 6 months
