Energy Enquiry at the Grazer Landhaus – Provincial Parliament of Styria

The energy future requires systems thinking – our review of the Styrian Provincial Parliament’s energy enquiry Last week, the focus at the Grazer Landhaus was on the future of energy. Experts from politics, science, industry and the energy sector discussed key challenges and opportunities of the energy transition and presented concrete solutions for a sustainable, secure and affordable energy supply.

The LEC was also represented by its Scientific Director, Prof. Nicole Wermuth. The working groups and discussions once again made it clear: The transformation of our energy system will only succeed if renewable generation, storage and consumption of renewable energies are intelligently interconnected and optimized in a holistic manner.

“A successful energy transition requires the dynamic interaction of a wide range of technologies. Large engines form a central pillar of our energy and transportation infrastructure. Research at the LEC is making a decisive contribution to enabling these engines to operate in a climate-neutral manner—without compromising their contribution to security of supply.

With our LEC ENERsim simulation platform, we develop innovative solutions to optimally integrate engines and other energy converters into renewable energy systems. In doing so, we support well-founded decisions for planning, operation and market participation, and make a significant contribution to shaping the robust and climate-neutral energy systems of the future.” Univ.-Prof. Dr. Nicole Wermuth
