Development of a simulation program for investigating the multi-body system piston-piston rings-cylinder liner with regard to oil transport
Development of a simulation program for investigating the multi-body system piston-piston rings-cylinder liner with regard to oil transport
Target:
The aim of this work is to create a Python program for simulating piston ring movement, taking into account the piston and cylinder liner, in order to gain a better understanding of the movement of the piston rings and the resulting oil transport into the combustion chamber. Subsequently, measures to reduce oil consumption and the associated pre-ignition will be developed.
Tasks:
- Literature research on the topic of piston-ring-cylinder liner multi-body simulation
- Familiarization with programming in Python and creation of the simulation program
- Setting up, performing, and validating piston-ring-cylinder liner multi-body simulations using the developed program
- Evaluating the simulations and preparing the results
- Deriving possible measures to reduce oil transport into the combustion chamber based on the findings obtained from the simulations
Starting date: To be agreed
