The newly appointed Honorary Senator Stefan Laiminger surrounded by Rector Horst Bischof and his honorary speakers.

Stephan Laiminger made a significant contribution to modern large engine research at Graz University of Technology with his dissertation on “Optimizing combustion in a large gas engine”, which he completed in 2000 at the Institute of Internal Combustion Engines and Thermodynamics (now the Institute of Thermodynamics and Sustainable Propulsion Systems).

It was then that the foundation was laid for the long-standing collaboration between the university and INNIO Jenbacher as well as for the establishment of the Large Engines Competence Center (LEC) in 2002. After completing his dissertation, Stephan Laiminger moved to INNIO Jenbacher, where he held various positions and has been promoted to Chief Technologist. As part of his work, he played a key role in shaping the collaboration with his former institute and the LEC. These services to the promotion of the scientific, technical and cultural tasks of Graz University of Technology qualified him for the title of Honorary Senator, which he was awarded on 6 November 2023 at an academic ceremony in the auditorium of Graz University of Technology. Andreas Wimmer gave the laudatory speech for Stephan Laiminger, which you can read here:
